A step by step description of LNG bunkering

At DNV, we receive a lot of questions related to bunkering of LNG. We have therefore made another video which takes a more technical approach to what is actually going on during the LNG bunkering operation than our first video did. The video describes the nine main steps undertaken by both ship and jetty crews to ensure a safe transfer of LNG.

As many readers will be aware, there are many discussions related to LNG bunkering going on all over the world these days. And this video is not intended to represent “the correct way”, it is rather an input to the ongoing discussions. We hope and believe that a thorough documentation of current practices is valuable information.

    I would have liked to see some effort to reduce the likelyhood of methane being vented to fill the tank by returning the vapour space to the loading facility.
